The Bootstrap vs WordPress debate is a common website platform comparison. Everyone must understand that this comparison between these two platforms is not really fair.
It shouldn’t be verses battle because when you say vs it means that you have to pick one or the other. This team vs that team. You’re implying that it can’t be both, but between these two you can have both. Let’s find out the differences between these two platforms.
What is Bootstrap?
Twitter Bootstrap used to be known as Twitter Blueprint and it is a front-end framework for building websites and web apps. With BS you have to code everything. With BS it’s really all about the presentation. Text color, buttons, columns, etc. Bootstrap can be used to build a static site or to develop a WordPress theme.
What is WordPress?
WP is a web software that you can use to create your own website or blog. It is very powerful and it is the most popular CMS in the world. WordPress is free to use and customize. Anyone can use WP because there is no coding involved. With WP you don’t need web experience, programming skills, or design expertise. You can use Bootstrap with WordPress or with other platforms like Drupal or Joomla.
Bootstrap or WordPress for ease of use
Bootstrap is not for everybody. For some people it can take a long time to learn and for some people not so long. If you don’t know what you’re doing it can leave you hitting your head against the table. If you’re not a programmer and have no knowledge of HTML and CSS don’t choose BS. You’re perfectly fine and better off by choosing the Genesis Framework for your WP site. Once you choose Genesis you will see that you never needed Bootstrap to begin with.
Website maintenance comparison
With BS not only do you have to build it, but you have to continually perform maintenance on it, which can be pricey for you or for clients who are not code savvy. Clients want something that is easy and that can do it all and that is WP.
You can do better!
It takes time to create things with Bootstrap, time that you might not have. Many people take the time to learn enough coding just to get by with BS. The problem is that when their site is finished, they could have had a site that is 10x better and better optimized with Genesis. Most people will find that WP themes look better than BS.
Bootstrap websites are generic
You can almost always eyeball a Bootstrap site. They always look the same. One of the reasons that I stay away from Bootstrap is because your site is not going to have an identity. People are going to go to it and say, it’s just another boring Bootstrap site.
When it comes to viewing your site.
WordPress is great for viewing things on everything. You name it desktops, laptops, iPads, tablets, and mobile. I am not saying that BS is not good for viewing on different devices because it is, but BS works best on smaller screens.
Which is better between Bootstrap and WordPress?
Is BS good for developers? Yes, but you don’t need Bootstrap. Sometimes we hear about new things and go after them even though it’s only going to make things more complicated for us. If you just entered into the blogging and website world and you want to get started now here is what I recommend.
1. First if you have not even set up your hosting, then do it now. Start SiteGround here at 60% off, it will take you 5 minutes to create your website.
2. Sign up and allow their preinstall wizard to do the rest.
3. Once you’re done setting up even though WP offers free themes I recommend that you check out Genesis and choose from their huge supply of themes. Some of their themes that I love are Modern Studio Pro, Sixteen Nine Pro, Enterprise Pro, and Epik.
You’re good to go.
